David Henzlik has a wealth of
retail development knowledge, with more than 20 years of
commercial real estate experience to his name. David began
his career in real estate in 1982 as an intern for the Leo
Eisenberg Company while working on his undergraduate studies
at the University of Kansas. After the two year internship,
David spent the next two years in the company’s St.
Louis office, and another two years working for Christie
Company.
In 1989, David joined JDN, the largest developer of Wal-Marts
in the mid 1990’s and one of the largest strip center
REITs in the country with an average of 115 properties in
its portfolio. As an officer of JDN, David was actively
involved in its IPO in 1995, directly responsible for relations
and communications with investment rating agencies and Wall
Street analysts.

During the first five years of his 14-year career with JDN,
David was recognized by NAIOP (National Association of Industrial
and Office Park) as one of the Top 5 Producers in Atlanta
for three years in a row. He was the awarded the Top Producer
for one of those years. During his last few years with JDN,
David served as the Vice President & Director of Development
& Leasing. In this role, David was responsible for Big
Box Anchor Leasing and would oversee as many as 15 developments
at any one time.
After leaving JDN in 2002, David formed the Henzlik Company,
a real estate services company based in Atlanta that specializes
in shopping center development. He is currently focusing
his skills on three shopping center developments –
two in Atlanta and one in Florida. David is also working
with AutoZone, Walgreens, and IHOP on build-to-suits projects.
